Volunteer Driver Job Description
Drivers provide curb-to-curb transportation within the city of Lincoln, in their privately owned vehicles, to qualifying Lincoln residents. Required Commitments: Must enjoy being with people and have desire to help with transportation of individuals.
Volunteer Driver Job Qualifications:
- Must possess a current Nebraska Operator’s License and have held a valid Operator’s License during the past three years.
- Possess and the ability to maintain a suitable passenger vehicle, including a neat and clean interior and exterior. Examples of suitable vehicles include 4-door sedans, station wagon and moderately size SUVs.
- Possess and retain vehicle liability insurance of no less than $100,000 bodily injury, each person; $300,000 bodily injury, each accident; $100,000 property damage.
- Have a driving record with no more than three (3) moving violations in the past three years.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Successfully complete a “Behind the Wheel” evaluation. Attend periodic training courses as assigned.
- Maintain and process administrative records and reports

Driver Insurance Note
Many volunteer drivers in the program have received confirmation from their insurance companies that their LSTP volunteer activities are covered under their automobile insurance policies. However, we advise all volunteers to contact their respective carrier for confirmation of coverage for their volunteer driving activities with LSTP.
The Lincoln Seniors Transportation Program provides each volunteer driver additional accident insurance and personal liability insurance (up to $25,000) through Volunteers Insurance Service - The CIMA Companies, Inc.
