Lincoln Seniors Transportation Program Overview

Lincoln Seniors Transportation Program provides non-medical transportation to Seniors 65 years and older who no longer drive.

Rides are given anywhere within the City of Lincoln, except to the airport or to a medical appointment. People seeking help with medical transportation should contact the Madonna Community Transportation Program at 402-483-9456, or the Lincoln Handi Van at 402-441-7871.

How the Program Operates

              1.  Is able to walk to the car and back and has the physical and

cognitive ability to safely be on his or her own.  (Our volunteer drivers may be able to assist you with stowing a lightweight walker or cane); OR

              2.  Is able to provide his or her own reasonable accommodation to overcome the obstacles listed above, including but not limited to an escort or service animal.  (Please note, however, that our volunteer drivers and their vehicles are  not equipped to manage a wheelchair.)

Each rider must be pre-registered and eligible for 2 rides a week. Registration is conducted, by a trained program specialist with each rider at the “riders” personal residence.

Rides are provided by volunteers in their own personal vehicles. All drivers undergo criminal and motor vehicle background checks and participate in a "Behind the Wheel" evaluation with a certified driving instructor.

Call Jim, LSTP Program Coordinator, at 402-441-6143 if you would like to learn more about rider qualifications and how you can enroll.
