2017 Keystone Award Recipient

Dorothy Applebee

The "Keystone Award" honors a person who has made a significant impact, not only in the lives of seniors today, but has spent time, energy, and effort to provide a lasting benefit for years to come.

Dorothy Applebee has been sharing her musical gifts and sense of humor with others for 75 years. She is a tireless entertainer/volunteer who continues to perform many days of the week (sometimes multiple places in one day) across Lincoln at age 87!

She was a volunteer pianist for Madonna worship services for 18 years, a volunteer church service organist at Tabitha for over 20 years, has played for weekly sing-alongs at Brentwood Estates for over 10 years, accompanied The Landing melodramas for several years, and shares her musical talents for events twice monthly at Homestead Rehabilitation.

Dorothy’s calendar is full – and so is her life and her heart. She continues to be a blessing to so many seniors and is such a great role model for not letting a chronological number make you feel old. Her four children are now also seniors, striving to have half the energy their mother has. Dorothy is a true Lincoln treasure.

Keynote Speaker: Major General Roger Lempke, Director of Military and Veterans Affairs, Office of U.S. Senator Deb Fischer, retired USAF officer and past adjutant general of the Nebraska National Guard

MC: Mark Taylor Feit, Director of Community Health Charities and former KFOR Radio morning show host

Give to Lincoln Day 5/18/17

2017_g2ld_lcf_blu

Thank you to all who supported the Seniors Foundation for Give to Lincoln Day 2017!  In May 2017, the foundation raised $4,350 plus (TBD) matching funds from the Lincoln Community Foundation. Thank you for helping to enrich the lives of seniors in Lincoln & Lancaster County.

About G2LD (Give To Lincoln Day):

Presented by the Lincoln Community Foundation, Give To Lincoln Day is a 24-hour event that encourages everyone to contribute to Lincoln and Lancaster County nonprofit organizations through a single online giving platform on May 18th. Give To Lincoln Day is coordinated by Lincoln Community Foundation, in partnership with local nonprofit organizations.

Every donation makes a bigger impact on Give To Lincoln Day because nonprofits also get a proportional share of a $350,000 match fund.

Donations to participating charities are made online and will be updated in real time on the online leader board at www.GiveToLincoln.com. Online donations may be made starting on May 1st. Gifts made between May 1 – May 17 will count toward the event, will show on the leader board when the giving day begins on May 18 and be eligible for the match fund.

For questions or to pay by phone, call the Seniors Foundation at 402-441-6179.
