The  “Seniors Foundation Remembers” award was created to honor the lives of those (who have passed away) who made Lincoln a city valuing its seniors.

2017 Keystone Award Recipient

Dorothy Applebee

dorothyapplebeeheadshotkeystone2017

The "Keystone Award" honors a person who has made a significant impact, not only in the lives of seniors today, but has spent time, energy, and effort to provide a lasting benefit for years to come.

Dorothy Applebee has been sharing her musical gifts and sense of humor with others for 75 years. She is a tireless entertainer/volunteer who continues to perform many days of the week (sometimes multiple places in one day) across Lincoln at age 87!

She was a volunteer pianist for Madonna worship services for 18 years, a volunteer church service organist at Tabitha for over 20 years, has played for weekly sing-alongs at Brentwood Estates for over 10 years, accompanied The Landing melodramas for several years, and shares her musical talents for events twice monthly at Homestead Rehabilitation.

Dorothy’s calendar is full – and so is her life and her heart. She continues to be a blessing to so many seniors and is such a great role model for not letting a chronological number make you feel old. Her four children are now also seniors, striving to have half the energy their mother has. Dorothy is a true Lincoln treasure.

Keynote Speaker: Major General Roger Lempke, Director of Military and Veterans Affairs, Office of U.S. Senator Deb Fischer, retired USAF officer and past adjutant general of the Nebraska National Guard

MC: Mark Taylor Feit, Director of Community Health Charities and former KFOR Radio morning show host
